I'm sure he can be reasonable (I hope, at least for your sake). If you can't rely on family to be decent in situations like this, then who? If you get an estimate done, let him know how much it is. If he doesn't want to pay, split the cost with him, like 60-40 or 70-30 (the bigger half being his). You're better off to go this route than dealing with the insurance company, having to pay the deductible and risking you insurance rate increasing. Just an idea.
